Once I got out of the shower, something inside me was aching to check it, just in case. I took the test and stared at the stick. Almost immediately a plus sign showed up. No way! There must be something wrong with the test. I feel normal. I want to tell Chad, but what if the test is wrong? I'll stop by Target on the way home and buy another one just to be sure.
I finished up getting ready, hid the pregnancy test, kissed Hubby goodbye, and headed off to work, but I did not say a word.
All day at work my mind was somewhere else. I could not focus on any conversation or task at hand. I wanted to say something to some one, but knew I couldn't. I decided to think of different ways I could tell Chad. I wanted to be creative, but it also had to be something I could do quickly. I finally came up with a great plan (or so I thought). The rest of the day slowly passed by. Finally I was able to head off to start the plan.
As I walked into Target, I headed straight to the pregnancy test isle. I then shopped around grabbing a few other essentials and the items necessary to surprise Hubby with the great news.
I walked into our house and noticed that Hubby was doing school work on the computer. Oh good. I think my plan might work. I gave him a kiss hello and snook away to start the plan.
First thing on the agenda, take another pregnancy test. Positive again! Yep, I'm really pregnant! I went into the kitchen and got it set up for the "big reveal."
Once everything was in place I called Chad into the kitchen. I pointed to the toaster oven and said, "Hey babe, what's that?"
"I don't know. Is it a muffin?" he responded. Oh great. This WONDERFUL idea is going to be a FLOP!
"No...I don't think so. What is it?" This went on for a little bit before I said, "Go look into our bathroom."
With a confused look on his face, he walked into our bathroom and saw the two pregnancy tests. "Woohoo!" he cheered. We hugged, cried, and could barley believe that it had worked.
Although my great plan was a total flop, I just love this story. We still smile and crack up when we think back to this day.
